Starting from January I have joined the Signaling and Infrastructure team at Ricardo. My name is Tobias Van Damme and with a background in Physics and Control Theory, I bring with me a solid set of analytical skills. After finishing my PhD on energy-efficient control in data centers, I was looking to put my skills to practical use. Here at Ricardo, I analyze the data obtained from the variety of measuring systems that Ricardo has running continuously, helping clients getting a better understanding and improving the behavior of their rolling stock. Furthermore I find it exciting to work on the public transport system of tomorrow and I will help our clients make the transition to that future.

My name is Rens Harteveld and I started working for Ricardo Rail since last February. During my studies in Civil Engineering my interest in the rail sector grew. The additional curiosity for the rail is sparked by the current and future challenges the Dutch railway system faces due to increasing demand. The combination of interest and curiosity made me apply at Ricardo Rail. At Ricardo Rail I hope to contribute in finding suitable solutions for rail infrastructural problems our clients face.
Recently I joined the Young Ricardo board in The Netherlands. Young Ricardo is about connecting and the network offers a platform for young employees to quickly feel at home in the rail industry and specifically at Ricardo. I'm looking forward to get to know many new people and organize fun and substantive activities!"

My name is Thomas Postma and I started working for Ricardo since March 2020. Working in team SII, I help, among other things, with the catenary-pantograph interaction simulations. I already gained experience with the simulations during my graduation at Ricardo. With a background in physics, I hope to contribute in the technical questions the rail sector faces.

Hey! My name is Ferd Smits, I started at Ricardo Netherlands in October 2019. I graduated from TU Delft Mechanical Engineering in April 2018 with a novel pantograph-catenary interaction model for Ricardo. After a short period at DAF Trucks I have returned to Ricardo. The main focus of my work at Ricardo is vehicle dynamics and the vehicle-infrastructure interface. Towards this focus I perform data-analysis for vehicle dynamics measurements such as cabin accelerations,  multi-body vehicle simulations, FE pantograph-catenary modelling as well as vehicle-track interaction simulations to investigate track loading for different vehicle and track types. Working at Ricardo allows me to perform truly challenging work, whilst also providing great opportunities for social contact with colleagues through Young Ricardo.
