Measurements play an increasingly central role in everyday life. Smart phones measure your location and gyroscopes are used to determine movements of the device. This leads to an increased number of ‘apps’, where the programmers have found a way to offer added value to the users.

In some way, this also typifies how Ricardo Rail approaches the development of our measurement services. We don’t just measure to measure, we measure to add value. We convert the measurement data into information that fits the needs of our clients. This leads to improvements like lower costs, increased level of safety or improved availability (see also investigative testing).

We have decades of experience with measurements in a railway environment, both on-board and trackside. Due to our vast experience, we can handle complex measurements within a short time frame. With a dedicated team and using state-of-the-art measuring equipment we carry out measurements of both electrical and mechanical quantities.

Our main objective when offering measurement services is to provide added value for our customers. We don’t just deliver data, we also carry out analyses using the technical expertise of rail domain experts throughout the organisation. We are specialised in the field of assurance testing and in-service measurements during the operational phase of both trains and rail infrastructure (investigative testing).

We measure currents and voltages and also accelerations, forces, temperature, air pressure and much more. We can carry out measurements to the highest professional standards, accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025 (link to our accreditation), which underpins the reliability of our measurement data. To minimise the impact of measurements on the use of the asset, we can offer measurements fully autonomously .
