We are providing Independent Verification and Validation services for the construction, testing and commissioning of the new railway that will connect Taipei with Taiwan’s main international airport at Taoyuan.
When fully operational, the service will provide a mix of express services between the airport and principal stations and Taipei, as well as local stopping services serving communities in the area.
With construction having to pass through difficult mountainous terrain and long, steep gradients, this is a complex and technically challenging project.
Of the 50km route, approximately 11km will be underground, with much of the remainder elevated upon 9m-wide viaducts, up to nine stories high, as the route navigates through a mix of dense urban districts and rural areas. ‘Commuter’ stopping services will share the route with ‘Express’ rapid services.
Due to the complex nature of this project, we worked closely with the management team during the initial design and planning stages. We undertook an independent technical risk assessment to verify that the contractors had identified all relevant hazards, and ensured that appropriate measures were taken to eliminate, or sufficiently mitigate, potential risks to safe and reliable operations.
